Web Wise: Break it Down During Development

In the third installment of our four-part series on web-related tips, we’re discussing the Website Development Process. If you missed our previous blog post on design and brand identity, “Making Your Brand Personality Shine Online,” check it out.

Without further ado, let’s dive in!

Breaking out the web development process into phases can help improve project management, emphasizes quality assurance, and betters the use of your resources. These phases will help you manage and track progress throughout the project, prevent delays, ensure accountability, and keep the project within budget. We suggest the following four phases:

  • Phase One: Launch
  • Phase Two: Maintenance
  • Phase Three: Progress
  • Phase Four: Reassess

Phase One: Launch

To begin, we launch. This phase involves testing your website to ensure users have no issues navigating the site. It’s essential not to stall the launch of your website because you want it to be “perfect.” Your website will constantly evolve, especially by utilizing the following three phases. Nevertheless, a structured approach to the launch reduces the risk of error and provides a smoother transition throughout development.

Phase Two: Quarterly Maintenance

At JP, we offer quarterly maintenance agreements on all websites we create. Maintenance and updates are crucial to the website’s longevity. As part of this phase, your team will fix bugs, ensure all functionality is up to date, and optimize content for search engines. In addition, this process will help you stay current with third-party integrations and avoid any potential problems.

Phase Three: Progress

The need for continuous improvement of your website is important. This phase allows you to add new features, improve user experience, and incorporate any user feedback. It’s a time to focus on long-term goals and prioritize what’s necessary to keep the website fresh, attractive, and relevant to your users.

Phase Four: Reassess

Periodically reassessing your website will ensure its effectiveness. This approach can include measuring traffic and engagement, analyzing user behavior, and reviewing business goals. Stay competitive and adapt to user demands and trends, including a design refresh, restructuring navigation, or the page flow of your website.

Structure is Key

Breaking down the web development process into these key phases will help you sustain the growth and success of your business or brand, as well as support the longevity of this vital investment in a website. Furthermore, it will keep the initial development of your website moving steadily because this structure allows you to focus on creating core features before the launch phase and then move on to more advanced functionalities as your project matures.

My next blog post will go in-depth on the Deployment & Launch of any new website. Be sure to stay tuned for that, and remember to subscribe to our newsletter for all the latest updates from our team at JP Marketing!
