Type Tuesday: The Letter X

This is a continuation of the series of designs based on the alphabet from our Creative team. Each post will include their designs and a peek into their process. Here’s a look inside Vicken’s process. Enjoy!

When I was tasked with the letter X, the first two things that came to mind were xylophones and x-rays. So I thought x-rays…

Mummies!

Djed-Hapi’s mummified body is currently located at the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archeology and Anthropology. He lived until his 50’s and was a member of the Ptolemaic Kingdom (305-30 CE). His mummy was first x-rayed in 1980 and again most recently in 2016, which was the inspiration behind my design.

Tools Used

Since I was illustrating an x-ray, I thought it would be a good idea to start this project on blackboard to mimic the look of an imaging machine. The only other tool I used for this was a white color pencil.

The Final Outcome

I hope you enjoyed my process!
